At 1,610 mts above sea level, the active Concepción Volcano is a challenging hike for visitors in very good condition looking for legit adventure. The lower slopes are home to species such as howler and white-faced monkeys, deer, peccaries, turkeys, magpies and other birds. Above the tree line views are amazing, winds strong and some rocks loose.
At 1,340 m above sea level, the dormant Maderas Volcano is the most popular climb on the island with forest until the summit and a lagoon inside the extinct crater. The hike starts in
coffee plantations and petroglyphs and passes troops of howler monkeys, birds and a diversity of flora and fauna, in addition the cloud forest near the center of the volcano allows for most of the year to have a moist and pleasant climate, due to the abundant vegetation.
